Today was our first day back to school after our holiday break. As I sit here and read through an Everest book for a student reading group tomorrow I realize how symbolic the cover image of three climbers tethered together is in relation to the day.
The first day back after a vacation is always interesting. Students, staff and families all are spending time and energy getting back into their routines. For some, the vacation was glorious, full of good tide and family time…but for others, it can be a great challenge. We had both celebrations and challenges today, but I was very proud of our staff and how they rallied around each other. We fell into our old groove, our tethered support, without breaking stride. It helped me realize how grateful I am to work with a staff that can communicate without speaking, supporting each other…tethered to one another to help and learn.
