Student Vlogging Provides Powerful Insights

Last year I wrote about the power of this project.  It was really simple.  We gave students a camera and a week and told them to share a little about their lives.  What came back was nothing short of inspiring.  We learned so much about empathy, understanding, storytelling and just got to know our students in a way that I didn’t think was possible.  As it’s been said, when you observe something you never see it in it’s truest state because you’ve changed the conditions by being there.  The same is true of this but it feels closer in many ways…we start to see our world from their eyes…and that’s powerful.
This video is from the second day of this group’s conversation about vlogging.  They watched last year’s vlogs from students and myself and even a few Casey Neistat moments just to round it out.  I’m so grateful to get to be a part of this as I think it’s revolutionary in so many ways.
